About Sinus Congestion

Sinus or nasal congestion is a troublesome complaint associated with colds, sinusitis, and/or allergies. Pseudoephedrine is widely used in cough and cold products to relieve nasal and sinus congestion. It shrinks swollen membranes within nasal sinuses (check out your sinuses) and reduces nasal congestion by helping to decongest sinus openings and encourage nasal and/or sinus drainage, improving the ability to breathe.

Guaifenesin can be added to pseudoephedrine to promote bronchial drainage by thinning mucus secretions and loosening phlegm, as well as lubricating irritated respiratory tract membranes, for productive or wet coughs.

The combined effect of pseudoephedrine and guaifenesin helps to improve sinus congestion and bronchial drainage for productive, wet coughs.* Also, pseudoephedrine and guaifenesin do not cause drowsiness.
